1. Press the main switch to " 1" (ON) and adjust the brightness with the light

intensity adjustment

lever. (At this Point, keep the light intensity preset button

OFF.) (p. IO)

2. Disengage all filters from the light path. (p. IO)

3. Turn the revolving nosepiece to engage the 1 OX objective. Make sure the revolving

nosepiece clicks into Position.

4. Place a specimen on the Stage. (p. 12)

5. Turn the X-axis knob @ and the Y-axis knob @ to move the specimen into the

light path.

6. Push the Observation tube's light path selector knob to "100% for binocular

eyepieces"

7. Looking through the right eyepiece

with your right eye, turn

the coarse

adjustment knob to bring the specimen into focus. After obtaining approximate

focus, use the fine adjustment

knob to make fine adjustments.
