WIRING DIAGRAM
q
"FUSE TERMINAL"
q
Fuse terminal equipped with a 20A ATC fuse, to protect the internal amp electronics of
the active sub
"HIGH LEVEL INPUT"
Port to connect the high level input plug to headunits that only offer loudspeaker
outputs, but no RCA line-level outputs
"AUTO TURN ON/OFF"
Slide switch for ON/OFF control of the AXB25A when the head unit does not provide a
dedicated 12V REM switching voltage. Set auto turn-on to OFF, when the AXB25A is
fed via RCA signals and head unit provides REM voltage or else, set to "ON" when the
High Level inputs drive the amp-module.
"RCA LINE INPUT"
RCA input to connect the active sub to the line-out of the head-unit (sub-out)
"+12V" POWER INPUT TERMINAL
Power input terminal to connect the active sub to the positive +12V power wire
connected to the car battery
"REMOTE" INPUT TERMINAL
Terminal to connect the active sub to the amp (remote)
turn-on / turn-off lead of the head unit
"GND" POWER INPUT TERMINAL
Power input terminal to connect the amplifier to the negative or ground wire connected
to the chassis of the vehicle

"PHASE" PHASE SHIFT CONTROL
Phase control potentiometer for the phase adjustment of the active sub, to match the
acoustical phase of the bass output with other speakers installed in the vehicle
"CROSSOVER" CROSSOVER FREQUENCY CONTROL
Crossover control potentiometer to adjust the lowpass frequency of the electronic
crossover with 12dB/oct. between 60 to 120Hz
"GAIN" INPUT GAIN CONTROL
Input level gain control potentiometer, allowing to match the output voltage of the
head-unit's RCA line-outs or the high-level signal to the amp input of the active sub
POWER LED
Green LED signalling correct operation of the amp module
NOTE: Both RCA inputs must receive input signal from the head unit. Use a Y-
adapter if your head unit only features a mono subwoofer lead.
DANGER: Use the specified 20A ATC fuse for replacement only. Higher ampera-
ge may cause serious damage or even a fire.
ADJUSTMENTS
Turn-on your head-unit keeping your volume in a low setting. The green status LED on the
front of the AXB25A amp-module should light up now. If not, turn-off your head-unit and re-
check all wiring to and from the amplifier for missing or faulty connections.
PROTECTION INDICATOR
This active subwoofer is equipped with an overload protection. In case of internal short
circuit or increased temperature, the overload protection is activated, and the red LED
indicator comes on.
LOWPASS CROSSOVER FREQUENCY
The lowpass cut-off frequency setting, marked as „Crossover" on the active subwoofer,
depends on the dimension of the vehicle and the mounting location. As a rule of thumb,
settings in a range between 80 to 100 Hz will render best sonic results. For an intermediate
lowpass crossover setting to attempt input gain and phase-shift control adjustments, go for a
VR-pot set to approx. 80 Hz – and after input gain has been adjusted, it is advisable to fine
tune the lowpass crossover frequency for best possible sound quality.
INPUT GAIN
The input level control allows the AXB25A to be matched to almost any head unit, to work
well within a wide range of output levels. The following procedure can be applied: Turn on
the head unit and adjust the volume level to an elevated but still sane output. Now using a
screwdriver, increase the GAIN potentiometer by turning it clockwise (on the AXB25A side
panel) until the bass content is perceived as sufficient and balanced.
PHASE-SHIFT
Adjust the potentiometer of the Phase-Shift control from 0° to 180° and listen for changes
in the bass reproduction quality. A particular setting within the available range of control will
give you more or better bass (more precise) around 100 Hz.
