Configuring the Router

Conﬁguring ISDN

If you have an ISDN BRI WAN module, conﬁgure the BRI port for ISDN. This section

explains typical ISDN conﬁgurations for one or two B channels. In the examples that

follow, the BRI port is conﬁgured for IP routing, Challenge Handshake Authentication

Protocol (CHAP), and Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) encapsulation.

Take the following steps to conﬁgure the router for a basic ISDN PPP connection on a

single B channel or two B channels, substituting the correct addresses and host names as

appropriate for your network:

case sensitive.

Enter enable mode:

Router> enable

password: enablepassword

Enter the conﬁgure terminal command. Then enter the host name and password

that the router will use for CHAP caller identiﬁcation:
