Installing the FDDI Applique
The FDDI applique is installed in an applique card cage in the rear of the chassis; access to the rear
of the chassis requires removing the front panel and top cover of the chassis. (See Figure 9.) The
following procedure is required only if an FDDI applique is not already installed.
Warning

Installing the FDDI Applique in the Applique Card Cage
Following is the procedure for installing the FDDI applique in the applique card cage.

Place your thumbs on the ejector levers and push the card in firmly until it snaps into place
and is firmly seated in the slot. The ejector levers close automatically when the card is
properly seated.
If you are going to install FDDI appliques immediately, leave the front access panel off and
proceed to the following section, "Installing the FDDI Applique."
If FDDI appliques are already in place, leave the front access panel off and proceed to the
section "Connecting Internal and External Cables" on page 20.

Before the FDDI applique is installed in the applique card cage, remove the applique card
If the applique card cage is installed in the chassis, disconnect any external connections to
the applique it contains.
Remove the card cage from the chassis by removing the six screws that secure it to the rear
panel. Carefully lift the card cage up and out of the chassis, using care not to strain any
internal ribbon cables that still may be attached to interface cards in the system card cage.
Remove the top cover of the applique card cage by loosening the four cover fasteners that
secure it. (See Figure 10.)
