• 64 QSFP28 ports with the capability of operating at 100G and 40G rates.
• Ports 0-15 also support dynamic breakout with these combinations: 4x10G, 4x25G, and 2x50G.
• Ports 48-63 may also support MACsec in a future release.
• 2 x 10GE SFP+ ports (although physically present, these are not supported by IOS-XR).
Configure Breakout
Log into the router in the config mode, and type the following command (in this example, the breakout optics
is inserted in port 0):
RP/0/RP0/CPU0:router(config)# controller optics 0/0/0/0 breakout 4x10
RP/0/RP0/CPU0:router(config)# controller optics 0/0/0/0 breakout 4x25
RP/0/RP0/CPU0:router(config)# controller optics 0/0/0/0 breakout 2x50
Note
• The broken out QSFP interface will be named as following, depending on the break out mode:
• 4x10G: TenGigE 0/0/0/0/0, TenGigE 0/0/0/0/1, TenGigE 0/0/0/0/2, and TenGigE 0/0/0/0/3
• 4x25G: TwentyFiveGigE 0/0/0/0/0, TwentyFiveGigE 0/0/0/0/1, TwentyFiveGigE 0/0/0/0/2, and
• 2x50G: FiftyGigE 0/0/0/0/0, FiftyGigE 0/0/0/0/1
• The above commands fail if the optics inserted do not support breakout.
• The commands succeed if there are no optics inserted, and the breakout is executed whenever optics are
inserted at a later stage.
• For 4x10 breakout, copper and non-copper optics are also supported.
For 4x10 breakout, the supported optics type are : 40G SR4, 40G LR, 40G AOC, 40G PSM, 40G AC
(active copper), and 40G CR4 (passive copper).
