Epson 1715C - PowerLite XGA LCD Projector Product Support Bulletin
Q3.
Can I use USB flash memory where the update file is saved with other files?
A3.
We recommend you use a USB flash memory with only update files.
Q4.
What do the projector's LED status indicators mean?
A4.
1 USB access indicator shows a solid orange. (Accessing USB memory)
2 USB access indicator shows a solid green. (Preparing update)
3 Power, Lamp and Temp indicators of the projector show a solid orange. (Download
mode)
4 USB access indicator shows a solid green again. (System updating)
5 After the solid green of the USB access indicator and the solid orange of
Power/Lamp/Temp indicators of the projector go off, the power indicator exhibits solid
orange and then the projector enters standby mode.
Note: A solid red of the USB access indicator means that the update failed abnormally.
Q5.

What should I do if the firmware update fails?

A5.
Please turn off the projector and retry the update procedure starting from step 1 above.
Possible causes of the failure
1.
If you change the name of the update file in the root directory of USB flash memory,
insert the USB memory in the projector and start the update, a black screen with a
message "no file" is displayed. When the message is displayed, the firmware cannot
be upgraded.
2.
When the root directory of USB flash memory doesn't have the update files in it, the
update cannot be executed.
Q6.
What does it mean when the projection screen keeps showing the message
"Starting EasyMP" on blue background, and cannot be shifted to EasyMP screen?
A6.
If you observe this issue, it may be an indication that the upgrade has failed. You may
attempt to perform the upgrade again, but is some cases the firmware upgrade will
continue to fail and the projector will be unusable. In this case, please contact Epson End
User Technical support at 1-562-276-4394 or a local Epson Authorized Customer Care
Center.
Q7.
Do you have a list of known good or bad USB memory devices that have been
tested?
A7.
Yes, below is a short list of USB flash memory devices that we have tested. If your USB
memory device is not in the list, it may still work, however it has not been tested. When
using an untested USB memory device, please watch for the symptoms or behavior
described in the comments section below.
