BASIC OPERATIONS
1. Insert a cassette tape.

Forward the tape past its leader section to expose
the tape's magnetic surface ( = P. 21).
@
Recording
cannot be performed
if the cassette's
erasure-prevention tabs have been broken.
@ Use a Type | (norma) or Type Il (High/CrOz) tape.
Type IV (Metal) tapes cannot be used.
2. Press the DOLBY B NR button to set the
Dolby B noise reduction function to ON or
OFF.
The noise reduction system is turned ON and OFF
alternately with each press of the button as shown.

3. Press the play/direction button correspond-
ing to the direction you wish to record.
The indicator in the display unit shows the direc-
tion.

Press the stop button (m) after selecting the record-
ing direction.

If the reverse direction (4) is selected, record-
ing will stop after completion of the recording
of the cassette tape's reverse side.
4. Select the reverse mode.

Recording stops after one side.
+), C7): lf recording is started from side A (> direc-
tion}, recording continues to side B (-@ di-
rection).
If recording is started from side B («4 direc-
tion), recording stops after completion of
recording on side B only.

5. Press the ¢ recording pause button.

The unit enters the recording pause mode.
6. Use the display unit to select the source
function you wish to record.
When recording a radio broadcast from the tuner,
tune in the desired station.
7. Press the play/direction button.
Recording begins, and the rec indicator lights stead-
tly.
8. Press the SET button then begin playing the
source component.

NOTES:

The function setting cannot be changed during re-
cording {it can be changed, however, during the re-
cording pause mode).
@® The setting of the tone control (=P. 46, 47) has no
effect on the recording.

The recording level is automatically set by the unit's
ALC (Auto Level Control!) function.
