GRILLING
PREPARATION
Before use, be sure to empty contents of carton and make sure all parts are present. If any parts are missing,
please contact Customer Service.
NOTE: Before first use, follow the below instructions for lighting charcoal, but allow the fuel to burn for 30 minutes,
then cool down.
NOTE: The heat retention properties of this diatomite grill are due to its unfired clay construction. Do NOT leave the
grill outdoors uncovered after use. Rain, dew, prolonged humidity, or other moisture will damage the grill. Damage
due to moisture exposure is NOT covered under warranty. Storage suggestions: Under awning/porch WITH
waterproof cover, in garage/shed, or in airtight or waterproof plastic bin.
1
Remove all packaging and padding from the Yakatori grill and parts.
2
Locate the 2 square metal perforated fuel trays and place one in each chamber of the grill.
NOTE: The fuel trays will become discolored and may warp slightly after use. This is normal.
3
Place the cooking grate across the top of the grill. Metal tabs that fit over the edges prevent it from
shifting.
GRILLING
1
Open the air vent(s) fully. Remove the cooking grate and set aside.
2
Stack charcoal briquettes in a pyramid shape inside the grill. Fill to no more than 70% of the volume
of the grill. Add lighter fluid if desired. Do not use gasoline, kerosene, or alcohol.
3
Once lighter fluid soaks in, immediately light the charcoal briquettes in several places by using a long
match or stick lighter.
Flames will die down in 5-10 minutes. Wait until the charcoal completely ashes over (up to 25-30
4
minutes). Then use a grilling tool to spread the briquettes evenly and begin cooking. Do not begin
cooking until the fuel has a coating of ash to avoid contamination of food with lighter fluid.
TIPS & CARE
