GETTING READY FOR THE DOCUSP INSTALLATION
IP address of Default Router: The default router lP address is
a unique 4 byte, 32 bit numeric value that identifies the machine
that is acting as the main router. The router maintains tables of
addresses of many networks in order to forward data packets
between these networks. During install, the service
representative creates a default router file on the controller, if
one does not already exist, and this number is added to a line in
the new file. Your customer's network administrator should
provide this number.
Virtual printer name: A virtual printer, also known as a queue,
allows different sets of default attributes to be applied to
submitted jobs. For example, a virtual printer can be set up to
print jobs with a custom paper size or a special font. There can
be multiple virtual printers set up on the DocuSP controller.
The customer network administrator or site administrator defines
the virtual printers and the associated set of default or override
attributes.
NOTE: Virtual printer or queue names must consist of
alphanumeric characters only. If client workstations will be
submitting jobs using lp or lpr, or using the Windows document
submission tools or transparent print drivers through TCP/IP,
queue names must be limited to 14 characters due to limitations
by the Solaris lp admintool.
