Indications For Use
The Panacea Convertible Nonpowered Mattress and the Panacea Convertible mattress
with alternating pressure are flotation therapy mattresses providing a pressure
management surface to assist in the prevention and treatment of up to Stage III pressure
ulcers when non-powered and up to Stage IV when powered. The optional alternating
pressure mode is indicated for use as a preventive tool against further complications
associated with critically ill residents or immobility.
Foam Cavity
A foam cavity is used to contain the air cells and stabilize the entire surface, assist with
ingress/egress and minimize resident falls. This foam cavity is tapered at the foot end to
provide additional pressure redistribution in the heel section. Mattress is also available
with optional 3" raised side perimeters to further reduce resident falls.
Air Cells
9 or 12 foam-filled polyurethane air cells are divided into three separate pressure zones.
By utilizing different foam ILDs (firmness types), the Panacea Convertible air cells are
specifically designed to meet the pressure needs of the different zones of the body.
Side Perimeters
3"W firm perimeter provides support when entering/exiting the bed. The Panacea
Convertible Plus Mattress has 3" raised side perimeters to help minimize falls.
Heel Section
9-cell design provides an extra-thick, super-soft foam heel section to reduce pressure.
12-cell design provides air cells and optional alternating pressure in the heel section
when deemed necessary.
Cover
Top Cover – The 4-way stretch bacteriostatic top fabric is fire resistant, fluid resistant,
tear resistant, cleanable and replaceable.
Bottom Cover – PVC vinyl bottom for durability and easy cleaning.
Mattress Height
The Panacea Convertible Plus mattress provides a 6" thick pressure management
surface and the total mattress height is 9" with raised perimeters.
Friction/Shear
The cover reduces both friction and shear.
Replacement Mattress
The mattress should be placed directly on an existing healthcare bed frame of an
appropriate size.
