HELPFUL HINTS
Mounting
As previously mentioned, you may prefer to mount the Mitre Saw on a firm foundation
- a workbench or work table, to provide additional support. This is particularly
advisable if you are cutting larger pieces.
Use the holes in the Table Supports for this purpose, securing with screws, flat washers
and wing nuts for quick and easy removal, if required.
Cutting Simple Mitres or Bevels
Simple mitres or bevels are cuts made in one plane only. Either the blade is tilted
over at an angle to the table, by slackening off the Guide Rod Securing Screws
sufficiently to disengage the locking boss from the Quadrant, to allow the Guides
to be tilted to the desired angle, and then re tightened (Fig. 5), or the Angle
Adjustment Carriage is moved to the desired angle by lifting the Locking Lever to
allow the carriage to be moved, with the blade remaining at right angles to the
table (Fig.6).
Fig.5
Setting the Carriage to the angles shown in fig.7, will produce the mitres illustrated.
Cutting Compound Mitres
It follows that compound mitres are cut using
a combination of the two methods
illustrated above.
General
When cutting, DO NOT force the saw blade as this will lead to distortions and inac-
curate bevels. A very gentle pressure ONLY is required.
Ensure the Guide Assembly Locking Screws are tight before use - use the Allen key
for tightening them.
Ensure the saw blade is correctly tensioned before use - too slack will allow the
blade to twist, producing innaccurate mitres.
Use the Depth of Cut Stops for accuracy
