Lenovo ThinkServer User Manual
Parameter Descriptions:
SQL Execution Time: Set the response time threshold of a SQL according to the SQL that separately configured for each device in the device
information. If the response time is below the threshold, the power consumption of the device will be gradually reduced, until the optimum power
consumption value is found and fixed; meanwhile, once the actual performance value is close to or over the threshold, the system will stop to perform
power consumption control.
Energy Saving Ratio: The maximum ratio of the required energy saving. When achieves this goal, the system will stop to further reduce power
consumption and keep the power consumption control at this ratio regardless of the service performance.
Note:
SQL execution time should reflect the performance changes of the database in a correct and clear way.
The selected SQL must be safe enough and the SQL with potential security risk must not be used. It is recommended to create database user
specially for Smart Grid in DB and to access specific database table, so that the user database safety will be unaffected.
It is recommended to limit the ratio of database energy saving to about 20%.
To enable the power consumption management of the database server, you need to correctly configure collection information related to the database
server, for example, JDBC, SQL etc.
Web Service Policy
If the managed device applications include Web server, it is recommended to use Web server energy saving plan. This energy saving plan is
customized according to Web server scenario. The device will dynamically adjust power consumption according to the performance of Web server
application after plan configuration, therefore achieves maximum energy saving without affecting the service. For example, if the page can be opened
within 2-5 ms after being clicked by the user, and it has no impact upon user perception, then the threshold can be set to 4 ms. If the response time is
less than 4 ms, the power consumption control will be performed and it will stop when the execution time is close to 4 ms.
When enabling this policy, all other policies which are being enabled will be disabled.
Parameter Descriptions:
HTTP Response Time: Set the HTTP response time threshold according to the URL that separately configured for each device in the device
information. If the response time is below the threshold, the power consumption of the device will be gradually reduced, until the optimum power
consumption value is found and fixed; meanwhile, once the actual performance value is close to or over the threshold, the system will stop to perform
power consumption control.
Energy Saving Ratio: The maximum ratio of the required energy saving, when reaching this target, the system will stop further perform power
consumption control regardless of the service performance.
Note:
It is recommended to limit the set response time to 3-5 ms.
Since Web service is more sensitive to device performance, the ratio of energy saving should not be set too large and it is recommended to set it
around 5%-10%.
Filling in a URL can best reflect the Web service performance and the address which is not related to the service, and therefore the normal service
running will not be affected.

3.7.3 POLICY OPERATING STATUS

Through comparing the power consumption during the learning phrase with current power consumption, whether enabled policy is appropriate can be
determined, and the device(s) needing adjustment will be listed to remind users to adjust the policy. Meanwhile, for the device(s) needing adjustment,
the user can directly select the device on the webpage by clicking the "Go Back to the Learning Phrase", and put it to the learning phrase again; the
analysis includes:
The power consumption of all the devices in learning stage, current power consumption and saved power.
Screen out the device that probably needs to be adjusted, primarily the device that fail to achieve energy saving effect, through system analysis.
