TESTING
Testing is accomplished by pressurizing the unit with air and then submerging the unit under water
to check for the presence of air bubbles. Any leakage is cause for rejection.
1. Attach a threaded plug with an airline connection to the pipe threads in the PIPE END.
2. Apply 2-PSI air pressure to the unit and submerge under water. Check for the presence of
air bubbles coming from the POPPET O-RING or the BODY O-RING. There may be some
air bubbles that are trapped or attached to the unit. Make sure these are dislodged by
pushing water against them with your hand.
3. Increase the pressure to 30-PSI and repeat the test for bubbles.
CAUTION: NEVER ALLOW THE AIR PRESSURE TO INCREASE ABOVE 30-PSI.
4. Release and bleed off all air pressure.
5. Open the poppet by depressing with the handle of a screwdriver or other non-scratching
object. Allow the poppet to close gently; do not let it slam closed.
6. Repeat the test starting with step 2 above.
7. Release and bleed off all air pressure.
WARNING! – DISCONNECTING THE TEST PLUG FROM THE PIPE END WITHOUT FIRST
MAKING SURE ALL AIR PRESSURE IS RELEASED MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY.
8. Remove test plug from the PIPE END.
