A GROUNDBREAKING PERFORMER
Caliber takes its fuel effi ciency seriously, with up to 29 miles per gallon.* Fuel economy goes hand in hand with engines and drivetrains rigorously tested for maximum performance and durability.
1 WORLD ENGINE.
Four World Engines are offered — 1.8-liter, 2.0-liter, 2.4-liter, and 2.4-liter Turbo — which provide 148, 158, 172, and 285 horsepower, respectively. They meet aggressive
performance and fuel economy targets through advanced cylinder head port and intake manifold design. State-of-the-art automotive technologies include dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and an
intake with fl ow control valves. Combined, these features produce more power, better fuel economy and smoother, quieter operation than engines without them.

generation Continuously Variable Transaxle (CVT2) calibrated for precise ratio control. A Continuously Variable Transaxle operates by varying the working diameters of the two main pulleys in the
transaxle. The CVT2 allows the engine to run at optimum rpm to provide approximately 8 percent better fuel economy.
The CVT2 also allows the fuel injection to remain off during deceleration, as the
transaxle works its way down to the lowest ratio, ingeniously saving more gas.
*2008 preliminary EPA estimated 24 city/29 highway mpg with 1.8L engine with 5-speed manual transaxle.
Combined EPA city/highway fuel economy of Caliber's 2.0L engine with CVT2 (25 mpg) compared to Dodge's comparable 4-speed automatic transaxle.
