Installation and operating instructions
for the DHi 2/DHi 11 auxiliary switch
These installation and operating instructions are aimed at qualified
electrical specialists. Electrical laypersons must not install and con-
nect devices of this type due to the considerable potential dangers.
The instructions must be kept so that they can be referred to at a
later stage.
Application instructions and warnings
1. Devices with visible damage must not be installed or used.
2. During installation the residual current circuit-breaker must be switched off.
3. When using both contact systems with voltages above 50 V AC or 60 V DC, the
system voltages must have the same origin and the same magnitude.
4. When removing the opening, no parts of the housing should fall inside the
residual current circuit-breaker.
5. The DHi 2 (black toggle) is compatible with the DFS with a black toggle; the DHi 11
(blue toggle) with the DFS with a blue toggle.
Intended use and installation
The DHi 2/DHi 11 auxiliary switch is suitable for remotely signalling the switching
status of a DFS-series residual current circuit-breaker. The modular DIN rail compo-
nent is designed for mounting on DIN rails for retrofitting on the circuit-breakers.
In the event of a trip or manual operation of the residual current circuit-breaker, the
switch position of the contact apparatus changes immediately on the DHi.
Pre-selectable settings
The desired function must be configured before installation in the distribution board.
This is done by using a screwdriver to turn the lateral adjusting screw. The following
functions may be pre-selected:
1. Auxiliary switch: The contact position of the DHi is the same as the contact posi-
tion of the residual current circuit-breaker.
2. Signal switch: The tripping of the residual current circuit-breaker is actively sig-
nalled by the DHi.
Assembly
In the normal installation position, the auxiliary switch must always be installed on
the left-hand side of the DFS residual current circuit-breaker. The pre-embossed lat-
eral opening in the region of the toggle on the DFS must be broken through using
a screwdriver before installation. The DHi must then be pushed onto the DFS and
snapped on when connecting. The toggle of the DHi must be connected to the DFS
via the connector.
Wiring
The auxiliary switch has a potential-free changeover contact and a potential-free
normally closed contact. All connection terminals are arranged such that they can
also be easily accessed from above in the assembled unit.
Test function
The test function enables the auxiliary contacts to be switched independently of the
residual current circuit-breaker and thus permits the function of the auxiliary switch
to be tested. The main circuit is not broken. To enable the test function, the connec-
tor between the auxiliary switch and the DFS toggle must first be pulled out. A small
screwdriver can then be pushed into the test slot marked with "test" on the front of
the auxiliary switch to activate the test function.
Warranty
All professionally installed, unaltered devices are covered by warranty for the dura-
tion of the statutory warranty period from the day of purchase by the end user. The
warranty is not applicable to damage incurred during transport or caused by short-
circuit, overloading or improper use. In the event of defects in workmanship or mate-
rial being discovered within the warranty period, the company will provide repair or
replacement free of charge. The warranty will be rendered null and void if the device
is opened without authorisation.
