4. OPERATION
4.1 Install the 9V battery:
Open the receiver and transmitter battery doors.
Insert new 9V batteries.
4.2 How to use the probe: see Fig 1.
4.3 How to use the transmitter:
Switch on the power by pressing "On/Off" button. If the circuit is "open", the green LED
will flash. If the circuit is "short", the red LED will flash. Long press "On/Off" button for
3 seconds to power down the unit.
CAUTION: The transmitter MUST be switched on before connecting to the
vehicle. The power MUST be switched off after disconnecting from the vehicle.
Otherwise, the fuse may blow when the tester is connected with a shorted circuit.
4.4 How to use the receiver:
1. Short press the "On/Off" button to power on the unit. Long press the "On/Off" button
to adjust the sensitivity.
2. The green LED "OPEN" indicator will stay lit (not flashing) when the power is on.
3. The green LED will start flashing when the receiver senses the signal from the transmitter.
4. The sensitivity will be on the weakest level when the power is switched on. Long press
the "On/Off" button until the buzzer sounds twice / LED flashes twice. This indicates the
sensitivity is set to medium. Long press the "On/Off" button again (until buzzer sounds
three times / LED flashes three times). This indicates the sensitivity is set to the highest
level. The sensitivity will rotate when the above operation is repeated.
5. For illumination (white LED), press the "Light" button. Press again to turn off.
6. The green LED will keep flashing when receiver traces an "open" circuit. Red LED will
keep flashing when receiver traces a "short" circuit.
7. Short press the "On / Off" button to turn the receiver unit off.
4.5 How to connect with the fuse socket: see Fig 2 ang Fig 3.
4.6 How to trace a "short":
1. Switch on the receiver unit, with the sensitivity set to low.
2. Connect the two wires to the fuse socket; or connect the black wire to the (+) positive
of the battery, and connect red wire to the other terminal which is connected with the
system (Please refer to Fig. A and Fig. B). If circuit is short, the red LED will flash.
3. If it is difficult to find the "short", increase the sensitivity, and repeat 2). if the circuit is under
short condition, receiver will sense "short", the red LED will flash / buzzer will sound.
