W h e n programming e m e r g e n c y n u m b e r s or making test c a l l s to e m e r g e n c y n u m b e r s :
• R e m a i n on the line and briefly explain to the dispatcher the reason for the call before hanging
• Perform t h e s e activities in the off-peak hours, s u c h a s early morning or late evening.
T h i s equipment complies with Part 68 of the F C C rules and the requirements adopted by the
A C T A . On the backside of this equipment is a label that contains, among other information, a
product identifier in the format U S : A A A E Q # # T X X X X . If requested, this number must be provided
to the telephone company.
Y o u m a y safely connect this equipment to the telephone line by m e a n s of a standard modular jack,
u s e e R J 1 1 C .
A plug and jack used to connect this equipment to the p r e m i s e s wiring and telephone network
must comply with the applicable F C C Part 68 rules and requirements adopted by the A C T A . A
compliant telephone cord and modular plug is provided with this product. It is designed to be
connected to a compatible modular jack that is also compliant. ( S e e installation instructions for
details.)
T h e R E N is used to determine the number of d e v i c e s that may be connected to a telephone line.
E x c e s s i v e R E N s on a telephone line may result in the d e v i c e s not ringing in r e s p o n s e to a n
incoming call. In most but not all a r e a s , the s u m of R E N s should not e x c e e d five (5.0). T o be
certain of the number of d e v i c e s that may be connected to a line, a s determined by the total R E N s ,
contact the local telephone company. For products approved after July 2 3 , 2 0 0 1 , the R E N for this
product Is part of the product Identifier that h a s the format U S : A A A E Q # # T X X X X . T h e digits
represented by ## are the R E N without a decimal point (e.g., 06 Is a R E N of 0.6). For earlier
products, the R E N is separately shown on the label.
If this equipment c a u s e s harm to the telephone network, the telephone company will notify you in
a d v a n c e that temporary discontinuance of service may be required. But if a d v a n c e notice is not
practical, the telephone company will notify the customer a s soon a s possible. Also, you will be
advised of your right to file a complaint with the F C C if you believe it is n e c e s s a r y .
T h e telephone company may m a k e c h a n g e s in its facilities, equipment, operations or procedures
that could affect the operation of the equipment. If this happens the telephone company will
provide a d v a n c e notice In order for you to m a k e n e c e s s a r y modifications to maintain uninterrupted
service.
If trouble is experienced with this equipment, for repair or warranty information, p l e a s e contact

If the equipment is c a u s i n g
harm to the telephone network, the telephone company may request that you disconnect the
equipment until the problem is resolved.
Connection to party line service is subject to state tariffs. Contact the state public utility
commission, public service commission or corporation commission for information.
If your home h a s specially wired alarm equipment connected to the telephone line, e n s u r e the
installation of this equipment d o e s not disable your alarm equipment. If you h a v e questions about
what will disable alarm equipment, call your telephone company or a qualified Installer.
