Assembly Instructions for Models DX-CC, DD and EE.
Model DX-CC
(82 ft., overall length). "top wire" covers 40, 15 (3rd harmonic of 40 meter wire)
and 80 meters. 15 meters requires an antenna tuner due to normal harmonic frequency shift.
"Middle wire", approx 16 ft. long each side, goes thru the middle holes of the 3 long stand-offs
and bottom holes of the 3 short stand-offs and covers 20 meters (photo shows just 2 short stand-
offs and is taken from Model DX-EE photo. See information below for Model DX-EE).
"Bottom wire", approx 8 ft. long each side, goes thru the bottom holes of the 3 long stand-offs and
covers 10 meters. Extend the ends of both the 20/10 meter wires thru their end stand-off holes, 2
inches. Fold back over the stand-off and twist wire back on itself (slide end stand-offs back on
wire 2 in. to do this). Secure wires thru top and bottom stand-offs with a 6 in. "twisty" of wire, cut
from the 12 ft. roll. Place the "twisty" around the stand-off, then twist it around each side of the
antenna wire where it goes thru the stand-off. You can also use an outdoor rubber sealant in the
holes, available at hardware stores. It does not affect performance. These ties secure stand-offs
from moving during wind.
Since it a shortened "Hi-Q" antenna on 80 meters, it will have a narrow SWR bandwidth of about
65 kHz, depending on installation site. To move up further into 75 meter SSB, shorten each end of
the antenna by about 6-8 inches (pull thru the end insulators and twist back on themselves. Does
not need to be cut), recheck the SWR, then use a wide tuner to broaden out the coverage. Once
set for SSB, it will not cover CW, or vice versa, due to the efficient narrowband Hi-Q design.
Model DX-DD
is same as above, but utilizes just the "top wire" for 80 and 40 meters. Follow
the above instructions for 80 meter tuning. If installed in the clear, 40 meters is broadband on both
models, but a tuner can be used if desired for "edge to edge" coverage. It uses no stand-offs.
Model DX-EE
is similar to above but covers 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters and is 42 ft. long,
overall. Refer to the photo. The "top wire" covers 40 and 20 meters.
The "middle" wire, approx 11 ft. long each side, covers 15 mtrs. Fold back over last stand-off, 2 in.
The "bottom wire", approx 8 ft. long each side, covers 10 mtrs. Fold back over last stand-off, 2 in.
For assembly, refer to the photo above and the Model DX-CC instructions for assembly
information. The Model DX-EE utilizes 3 long stand-offs and 2 short stand-offs.
The Model DX-EE is a shortened efficient Hi-Q antenna on 40 meters and has a narrow SWR
bandwidth of about 70 kHz, depending on installation site. To move further up into 40 meter SSB,
shorten each far end of the antenna by about 3 inches and use a wide range (10:1) antenna tuner
to broaden it out. The wires can be pulled thru the end insulators and twisted back on themselves.
Wire lengths, all models, are for reference only to aide in installation. Space stand-offs evenly
across wire as shown in the photograph. First stand-off approx 12 in. from center insulator. Space
stand-offs so "wire ends" can be folded back over them and twisted, as per above instructions.
