Removing and Installing Components

Make sure the power cord is disconnected before installing the power supply.
Step 2
Verify that the power switch is in the off (0) position on the power supply that you are installing.
Step 3
Slide the power supply into the power supply bay. Make sure that the power supply is fully seated in the

Tighten the power supply captive screw.
Step 5
Plug the power cord into the power supply.
Step 6
Connect the other end of the power cord to an AC-input power source.

Turn the power switch to the on (|) position on the power supply.
Step 8
Verify power supply operation by checking that the power supply (P/S) LED in the front panel is green.

Removing and Installing DC Power Supplies
This section provides instructions for removing and installing the DC power supplies for the Cisco MDS
9100 Series switch.
The new DC power supply is not supported on the Cisco MDS 9140 Switch, Cisco MDS 9148 Switch,

and the Cisco MDS 9120 Switch.
The DC power supply does NOT use country-specific power cords like its AC power supply counterpart.
A DC power supply is provided with terminal blocks where it is expected that the customer will provide
the wiring to the terminal blocks (See
power supplies.
The gauge size of the installation wiring will be dependent on the following factors:
Since some of the above listed factors are installation dependent, we recommend that DC installations
be done by qualified service personnel in accordance with local and national electrical code
requirements for the specific country of installation.

Depending on the outlet receptacle on your power distribution unit, you may need the optional
jumper power cord to connect the Cisco MDS 9100 Series switch to your outlet receptacle. See
