Setting up for email
Use this setup procedure to receive email from
your corporate Microsoft® Outlook®, IBM® Lotus
Notes®, or Novell® GroupWise® email account.
To use this setup procedure, one of the following
system requirements must be met:
Microsoft Outlook (Workgroup installation)
•
with an email account on a Microsoft
Exchange Server version 5.5 or later
Lotus Notes version 4.6 or later, with an
•
email account on an IBM Lotus® Domino®
Server version 4.6 or later
Novell GroupWise client version 6.5 Service
•
Pack 4 with an email account on a Novell
GroupWise Server version 6.5 Service Pack 1
or later
Install the BlackBerry Desktop
Software
1.
Insert the BlackBerry Desktop Software
Installation CD into your CD drive.
2.
Complete the on-screen instructions.
Select BlackBerry Enterprise Server or
•
BlackBerry Desktop Redirector as your
email integration option.
Select BlackBerry Enterprise Server as your
•
email redirection option.
3.
Connect your handheld to your computer.
4.
On the Windows taskbar, click Start.
5.
Select Programs > BlackBerry > Desktop
Manager.
When you are prompted to generate an
•
encryption key, follow the on-screen
instructions.
Note: After you install the BlackBerry Desktop
Software, you can charge the handheld battery
using your computer. See "Can I charge my
handheld using my computer?" on page 5 for
more information.
Integrate with an email account
using enterprise activation
When the enterprise activation screen appears on
your handheld after you connect your handheld to
your computer, your email account is being
integrated with your handheld. Wait for the
enterprise activation screen to disappear before
configuring your network settings.
Configure your wireless network
settings
In the handheld options, on the VPN and WLAN
screens, type any settings provided by your system
administrator.
For more information about configuring your
wireless network settings, on the handheld, click
Help and then click Network Configuration. Click
a topic.
Turn wireless on
Your handheld connects to the wireless network
using an internal radio.
When your the battery is charged and your
network settings are configured, turn on the radio
in a wireless coverage area. See the inside front
cover of this guide for information on wireless
coverage levels and the wireless radio.
