Reinstatement
I nertia safety brakes IB/95-17, IB/147, IB/147W are designed to
EN
prevent sharp descent of the rolling shutter, thus adding to the safety
and security of rolling systems with heavy shutter weight.
In the event of failure of the gearing mechanism of the tubular motor, the
rolling shutter drops down sharply, whereby the rotation speed of the roll
tube exceeds 22 revolutions per minute, which causes the safety brake to
operate - the drive shaft gets locked and the shutter stops.
The inertia safety brake is a safety device in accordance with EN12605. The
installation of a safety brake on garage doors for private, commercial or
industrial purposes allows them to comply with the requirements of EN12604.

2. SELECTION
In order to select the most suitable model of safety brake, it is important to
secure the safe mode of safety brake operation:
Nominal torque: is the value of the motor's torque for which the use of the
selected model of safety brake is appropriate (see the selection table). Please
make sure that the motor's torque does not exceed the nominal torque of the
safety brake.
Maximum locking torque: is the maximum torque accepted by the safety
brake when it blocks the rotation of the roll tube in the case of a fault.
Working speed: is the maximum number of revolutions per minute at
which the safety brake works as a simple support without functioning as a
descent stopper. The rotation speed of the roll tube of the rolling system must
be within this value.
3. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Connection, installation and commissioning should be carried out by
quali ed personnel in accordance with the regulations of the region where
the installation is being performed.
Safety brake is installed on the end cap, console or carriage on the side
opposite to the motor. The brake acts as a bearing support, therefore
installation of a separate bearing support is not required. It is necessary to use
fastening screws with a minimum strength class of 8.8.
Important! The safety brake must be positioned strictly horizontally
!
and vertically on its base, with the locking screw located at the bottom.
Incorrect installation may trigger false braking.
Please make sure that the limit switch is operational. The limit switch must
be screwed into the safety brake housing, whereby there should be no gap
between the switch and the housing.
The limit switch must be electrically connected so that when it is triggered,
the drive is disconnected (see the proposed wiring diagram). In control units,
the switch must be connected to a safety circuit (emergency stop circuit) in
order to cut the control current of the motor during an emergency drop of the
rolling shutter.
If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or
an authorised technical service centre in order to avoid all risk. Damaged cable
must be recycled.
It is not allowed to make unauthorized changes to the product or use
!
it for other purposes.
4. TESTING INSTRUCTIONS
The testing process of the safety brake consists of the following steps:
1. Ensure that all fastening screws of the safety brake are tted with suitable
washers (preferably self-locking washers) and perfectly tightened.
2. Since it is impossible to simulate a breakdown of the motor, you can
make sure that the safety brake is operational by listening to the sound caused
by the movement of internal components. If the rotation of the internal
components is clearly audible without jamming and there is no intermittent
movement of the rolling shutter, then the safety brake is operational.
3. If the safety brake is equipped with a limit switch, make sure that it is
connected.
4. Make sure that the safety brake is duly protected from excessive harsh
conditions such as dust, water, etc.
5. If there is a chain transmission in the rolling system, it is necessary to
ensure that the chain is not loose. Insufficient chain tension causes sharp
accelerations that can trigger the safety brake to block.
5.REINSTANTEMENT
Inertia safety brakes, as safety devices, can stop the rotation of the roll tube
more than once to prevent dangerous acceleration of the rolling shutter, but
each time after that they must be reinstated. A total of 10 automatic brake
stops are allowed.
To reinstate the brake to its original working state, it is necessary to loosen
IB147W
the locking screw, turn the central part to its original position so that the arrow
on the central part is strictly vertical. After that, the locking screw must be
130
tightened with a torque wrench (clamping force applied should be according
380
to the table for this version of the brake). It is necessary to apply paint (varnish)
on the locking screw to prevent its loosening.

6.OPERATION
-
If the installation procedure has been respected, the safety brake does not
require any maintenance.

and/or mental abilities as well as individuals with signi cantly reduced
physical abilities should refrain from using brake for safety reasons. The use of
receiver is prohibited for individuals who do not have relevant user
experience, skills and/or technical knowledge.
Keep children away from brake and relevant control devices and electric
appliances at all times to avoid injuries and damages.
Please, contact your nearest roller shutter service center or roller shutter
systems supplier for any operation inquiries that were not clari ed within this
publication.
