6) Fit the rain guard. The rain guard comprises a

white, circular lid with a threaded boss. Screw the

rain guard onto the monitoring head, the boss

should locate inside the top of the mounting

cylinder. Do not over-tighten.

7) Connect power supply. Ensure the power

cable is clipped to the side of the mounting post.

Insert the large plug connector from the 'slack'

end of the cable to a battery pack (green case

containing a 12V battery), see photo top right.

The cable plug can only be inserted one way, use

the screw collar to secure the cables connection

to the battery box socket.

The batteries will be supplied fully charged.

Please ensure the batteries are re-charged as

soon as possible after use with the battery

charger provided to prolong their life.

8) Insert PM

sampler unit into post. PM

samplers are transported in black 'peli' cases.

Open your case to locate the sampler, familiarise

yourself with it's power connector.

Carefully remove the inlet and monitoring head

assembly from the top of the gauge post and

place on the ground if there is space to do so.

The power cable plug for the sampler should be

visible inside the top of the post. Connect this

cable plug to the connector socket on the bottom

of the sampler unit, it can only be inserted one

way, use the screw collar to secure the

connection (see photo middle right). The red

'INFO' light will flash 5 times on the top of the

sampler unit. The sampler can then be carefully

inserted into the post. Gently pull the power cable

slack through the hole in the side of the post as

you slide the sampler in (see photo bottom right).

9) Start sampling! Please see over for the
