The name 'Triceratops' means 'three-horned face'.
•
Triceratops belonged to a family of horned dinosaurs called the
Ceratopsia. Others members of this group included Torosaurus
and Styracosaurus.

The first fossil bones of Triceratops were found in Colorado,
USA in 1887. At first, scientists thought that theybelonged to
a large prehistoric bison.
