Task 4—Setting Up Synchronous PPP Services
Step 2—Configuring Parameters for Remote LAN Sites
You must configure additional parameters to enable synchronous PPP services for the remote sites.
Each remote site must have the following three entries configured on the Cisco AS5300:

Table 2-4 summarizes the critical parameters used by DDR, which works primarily at the addressing
layer. These IP address routes are stored in the routing table when the sites are not connected.

In this case study, hq-sanjose does not dial out to the remote sites. The pound sign (#), shown in Steps
6 and 7 below and in the output of the show running command, is used to map the remote site's name
to the IP address.
To enable the remote LANs to dial in to the Cisco AS5300, enter the following commands beginning in
global configuration mode:
Be sure to use your own usernames and passwords for the remote sites.
Note
Specify the robo-austin username and password.
Step 1

Enable IP routing for the robo-austin subnet.
