USE OF THE REFRIGERATOR

Temperature regulation

To start the appliance, turn the thermostat knob,
located inside the compartment, to the required
position. This thermostat has six operating
positions and an «O» (Stop) position. The higher the
number selected, the lower the temperature in the
refrigerator.
When first starting up the appliance, an initial
setting of 3 or 4 is recommended.
The temperature inside the compartment depends
on a number of factors, such as the ambient
temperature, the amount of food stored in the
appliance, the frequency with which the door is
opened, the location of the appliance in the room,
etc. These factors must be taken into account when
setting the thermostat.
To stop the appliance, turn the thermostat knob to
the «O» position.
The freezer compartment will continue to operate.
Important
If the ambient temperature is high, the thermostat
knob is on the coldest setting (higher numbers) and
the appliance is fully loaded, the compressor may
run continuously, causing frost or ice to form on the
evaporator.
If this happens, turn the knob to a warmer setting
(lower numbers) to allow automatic defrosting and
so a saving in electricity consumption.

Storage of foods in refrigerator compartment

To achieve the best results with the refrigerator
compartment, you should follow some very simple
rules:
Do not put warm foods or evaporating liquids in the
refrigerator;
cover or wrap foods (particularly if they have a
strong smell or contain aromatic herbs).
In addition, food should be positioned inside the
refrigerator compartment as indicated in figure 13
below:
1. Cold cuts, cheese, butter, milk
2. Meat and fish
3. Fruit and vegetables.

In this position, fresh meat can be stored for 1-2 days at
most.

Further hints for getting the best out of your
refrigerator are the following:
Cooked food, cold dishes, jellies etc., should be well
covered.
Fruit and vegetables should be washed before being
stored.
Raw meat (all types, including poultry) should be
stored in plastic bags.
The walls of the refrigerator are equipped with a
series of runners so that the shelves can be
positioned as desired.
For better use of space, the front half-shelves can
lie over the rear ones.
