Step 1: Stand up one of your end rafters (one of those with a 3-way connector). Secure it to an
existing structure if possible so that it is plumb. If you donʼt have an existing structure, you can
use some 2x4s tied with rope as shown below. (photo may not match your rafter design)
Step 2: Position an inside rafter approximately 5' from the end rafter and secure a 58" plain (non-
swaged) conduit between the connectors at the rafter peaks. Continue to provide support to
both rafters to prevent them from falling down or twisting.
Step 3: Slide a swaged purlin through the cross connectors to connect these two rafters just above
the "Y" pipes on one side. The non-swaged end must be flush with the connector on the end
rafter.
Step 4: Repeat with another swaged purlin at the other side of these first two rafters. You should
now have a 2-rafter structure (connected with 3 purlins) that can stand without support.
Step 5: Continue adding rafters and purlins until you have added the other end rafter. Use
unswaged purlins at the end of your structure with their ends flush with the cross connectors.
