Impulse Relay SIR 16 L
General
The SIR 16L impulse relay is a component of the SI Building Management System and
can also be employed for non-system-dependent control duties. As a standard mon-
ostable/single-shot relay or as impulse relay the SIR 16L can be activated via various
inputs. These inputs are triggered by a control voltage of 24 V DC.
Input/output functions
Only momentary control voltage pulses affect a change in switch status at the im-
pulse inputs A2-A4. A control voltage permanently applied at one or more impulse
inputs will not cause a change in switch status and does not affect the function of any
other inputs. Activation via the monostable input A1 by a permanently applied con-
trol voltage takes precedence over all other control commands at the impulse inputs.

Mounting
Installation may only be carried out by an authorized, trained technician. Assembly
occurs by means of quick fastening on mounting rails, whereby any installation posi-
tion may be used. While installing please comply with the connection diagram. All
leads to be connected must be dead.
Command Devices
Devices suitable as control units are all those whose output corresponds to the func-
tion of an on/off switch of 24 V DC. The following conditions must be met:
1. The bounce time when the contact closes must not exceed 10 ms.
2. The maximum permissible contact resistance (Rmax) of the control device is de-
pendent upon the number (n) of the SI components to be triggered simultane-
ously and may not exceed 1000 Ω: Rmax = 1.000 Ω/n.
In the case of commercially available switches with mechanical contacts these re-
quirements are normally met. However, with control devices featuring semiconduc-
tor outputs attention should be paid both to the resistance of the semiconductor and
the residual voltage drop.
Guarantee
All professionally installed, unaltered devices are covered by warranty during the
statutory guarantee period from the day of purchase by the end user. The guaran-
tee is not applicable to damage incurred during transport or caused by short-circuit,
overloading or improper use. In the event of defects in workmanship or material,
which are discovered within the guarantee period, the company will provide a repair
or replacement free of charge. The guarantee will be rendered null and void if the
device is opened without authorization.
