7. General Information

The DSM 4E is a component of the Dupline installation system and permits switching of
four independent loads which may be operated using different phases. The current re-
quirement of each load may be up to 16 A. The operation signal of the relays is indicated
by LEDs on the front panel of the housing.
The DSM 4E is also fitted with four semiconductor input ports which are able to convert
signals from e.g. the SI building management system, or an SPS control system, into Du-
pline signals.
The green LED located in the coding and test socket on the front panel indicates that the
Dupline bus signal is functioning properly.
The all-or-nothing relays are designed for retentivity so that the status is being stored in
the event of a power failure. Depending upon the presetting, a faulty Dupline signal will
force the system either to connect or disconnect all outputs.

8. Coding

With the hand encoder DHK 1 each channel can be assigned any address between A1
and P8 using the modular plug at the front of the DSM 4E. The channel allocation is as
follows:
Channel
1
Relay output signal 1
2
Relay output signal 2
3
Relay output signal 3
4
Relay output signal 4
Channels, which are not used, should not be encoded. The encoding of the DSM 4E can
be done without operating voltage and without any connection to the Dupline bus. The
encoding remains permanently but can be overwritten at any time.
The outputs are configured in such a way at the factory that they will be switched on in
the event of a fault. This configuration, too, can be changed with the DHK 1. When con-
figured to „0", all outputs are switched off in the event of a fault and switched on when
configured to "1".

9. Putting into Service

Installation may only be carried out by an authorized technician. Observe the connection
diagram when installing. All leads to be connected must be dead.
Connections between the Dupline signal and the 24 V supply or connections to earth po-
tential will cause malfunctions and are not permissible. Check for the correct polarity of
the power supply and the Dupline signal. Short circuits between Dupline signal conduc-
tors and the 24 V operating voltage or connections to the grounding lead to malfunction
and are not allowed. The correct polarity of operating voltage and Dupline signal conduc-
