Connecting to a Computer

A SCSI card (AVA-2904E) is supplied with the scanner. This SCSI card is a high-

precision electronic component that must be handled carefully to avoid damag-

ing it or causing malfunctions. Strictly follow the instructions below for handling

the SCSI card.

•

The high-precision electronic components mounted on the SCSI card can be

irrevocably damaged by static electricity. Albeit slight, human bodies always

carry a static charge. Before you touch the card, discharge the static from

your body by touching a grounded metallic object, such as the chassis of

your computer.

•

When resting the SCSI card on a surface, always place it on, or in, the anti-

static package in which it was shipped.

•

Never touch the contacts when handling the SCSI card.

•

Operating the computer with the SCSI card partially or improperly installed

will damage the SCSI card. Confirm that the SCSI card is properly installed

before turning on the computer.

•

Contact the distributor from which you purchased the equipment if, for

some reason, the SCSI card will not operate correctly.
