To avoid cross force influences the strain ring should be mounted at least 1 up to 1.5 times D (D =
nominal tie bar diameter) away from the force transmission. Be aware of moving platens and tools.
To analyse the sensor signal we recommend using a suitable instrument from Baumer
Sensopress.
Please note that from the pressing on the strain gauges a zero point offset can occur. The
instruments from Baumer Sensopress have an appropriate reset circuit. Load and unload the tie
bar 2 to 4 times under full load in order to exclude setting errors.
During operation, the sensor must be reset after each cycle. We have matching amplifiers
available.

Place the strain ring around the tie bar at the
desired location and tighten it slightly and
evenly with the two M8 cylinder head screws.
Do not move the strain ring on the tie bar!
Please take care that the ring does not
rotate during the mounting process.
The metal foils may be damaged and the
strain gage misaligned. Measuring
abnormalities may occur.
Make sure that the two slots between the strain
ring halves have the same dimensions. The
screws can be equally tightened with a torque
of 3Nm.
A too small torque may cause measuring faults
and a too big torque may cause permanent
damage to the strain ring.
The strain ring is now ready for operation and
the corresponding cables can be connected.
Only two strain gauges are led out of the strain
ring (passive element). The bridge completion
to a full bridge happens externally.

4 Removal
A strain ring can be mounted and removed several times without affecting the accuracy of the
measuring results (up to 100 times).

Loosen the screws evenly and remove the
strain ring carefully. Now remove consecutively
both strain ring halves from the tie bar.
Do not move the closed strain ring on the tie
bar! Please take care that the ring does not
rotate during the dismounting process.
The metal foils may be damaged and the
strain gage misaligned. Measuring
abnormalities may occur.
