2 - Assembly
Your Aevon trailer has been disassembled for the shipment. You need to assemble the pieces together before you use your Aevon
trailer. The following description will help you to do that easily.
A – STD 100 / KIT L80
1.
Take all the pieces out of the parcel.
2.
Check the bearings are in place. Figure b
3.
Set up the swing arm on the frame using a washer between them (you may have to put 0, 1 or 2 depending on your trailer). To
make it easier to assemble the trailer, put a little grease on the area where the washers are placed so they remain there during
the next step. Place the chamfers side of the washers on the side where you will insert the axis. Figure b
4.
Mount the longest Ø10mm axis to fix the swing arm with an Allen key number 5 and a socket wrench number 13mm. Use a
torque wrench to do this operation. Maximum torque: 16N. Figure b'
5.
Mount the shock absorber placing the plunger on the top in the U part of the frame at the desired height. Depending on your
use, you can mount it in one of the 4 positions. To fix it, use the 8mm axis. You need an Allen key number 4 and a socket wrench
number 10mm. Maximum torque is 8N. Figure c
6.
Fix the bottom of the shock absorber to the swing arm by using the quick release. Figure d
7.
Mount the beam on the frame. Fix it with the 2 CHC M8 screws (Allen key number 6). Maximum torque is 18N. Figure e. & e'
8.
If the hitch is not already set up on the beam, you will have to assemble it. First, place the 2 washers of 10mm on each side of
the black composite hitch and introduce it in the yoke of the beam. Then introduce the 10mm short axis from the right side of
the trailer (when looking from the back) and lock it with the M10 nut. You need an Allen key number 5 and a socket wrench
number 13mm. When it is screwed, this part must be free to turn but with a small resistance so that there is no play. Maximum
torque is 8N. Plug the black plastic end-cap on the nut. Figure g
9.
In the case of the KIT L80, mount the 2 side tubes on each side of the frame. First pass through the tubes and through the frame
with the elastic, tighten it a little bit and then make a knot. Figure h., h'. & h''.
10. Mount the fender, the back wheel and the security flag. Figure i., i' & j
11. Check that everything is correctly assembled and that no play can be felt. Check that the wheel turns freely.
12. Adjust the air pressure of the shock absorber. The pressure depends on the load you are going to carry. Tab. 1
13. You can now attach your trailer to your bike or tandem. To do it, first remove your seat post from your bike and clean it
correctly. Then put the O-ring on the seat post but don't tighten it yet. Slide your seat post first in the hitch and then in the anti-
return collar. After that, adjust the height of your seat and finally tighten the O-ring but take care to let a gap of 0,5mm to make
sure your trailer is free to rotate. Figure k
14. After the first few kilometres, check that everything is correctly screwed, especially the tightening of the hitch.
B – UNO 100
15. Take all the pieces out of the parcel.
16. Insert the beam into the frame until the clips get inside the holes. You can adjust the height of the trailer by using one of the 3
positions available. Then screw the 2 screws on the front of the frame (Allen key number 5). Maximum torque is 8Nm. Figure f
17. If the hitch is not already set up on the beam, you will have to assemble it. First, place the 2 washers of 10 mm on each side of
the black composite hitch and introduce it in the yoke of the beam.
Figure g
18. Then mount the fender, the back wheel and the security flag. Figure i''. & j
19. Check that everything is correctly assembled and that no play can be felt. Check that the wheel turns freely.
Figure k
21. After the first few kilometres, check that everything is correctly screwed, especially the tightening of the hitch.
3 – Maintenance
To make sure your trailer will be fully operational for a long time, follow the maintenance operations below.
Before attaching the trailer to a bike, clean the seat post and the hitch with a dry rag.
●
Before any use check the state of your trailer. You should feel no play in the hitch, the beam, the swing arm and the wheel.
●
Check the tightening of each part, especially the quick release.Check that you have no play in the hitch and in all the other
parts, like the swing arm and the wheel. Check that everything is correctly screwed especially the quick release of the wheel
and the screws of the tow bar.
Grease (approx. every 50 hours) the axis with grease (for example with the "Bike Grease 2000" from Motorex) except the hitch.
●
Check regularly the air pressure of the tire and of the shock absorber. Respect the min. and max. air pressure specified on the
●
tire and specified in the note about the shock absorber.
Lubricate the plunger of the shock absorber with teflon oil. Spray the teflon oil on the plunger, then compress the shock 5 times
●
and clean the plunger. This operation helps to clean the plunger and the seal.
Clean the frame only with soap and clean water.
