WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS (CON'T)
STABILITY
The DynaRide
Pediatric Wheelchair is designed to be safe and stable
™
during normal transport as long as the user's center of gravity is maintained
in the chair. It is important to exercise caution when performing any activity
that shifts your center of gravity while seated in the chair. Never reach so far
forward that it requires shifting your seated position or leaning out of the
chair. When you need to reach for objects that require you to shift your body
position, ensure that the front casters are facing forward (this will help
extend the wheelbase and stabilize the chair) and be sure that the wheel
locks are engaged. Never apply weight or lean on the top of the wheelchair
back, as this can increase the risk of a tip-over or fall. When reaching toward
the back of the chair, only extend your arms as far as they can reach without
having to shift your seated position.
Always engage both wheel locks before getting in or out of chair. Locks are
engaged by pushing handle completely forward.
RAMPS AND SLOPES
Be certain of your physical capabilities and limitations before attempting to
propel the wheelchair up a ramp. It is recommended that you consult with a
qualified professional to learn the proper techniques for ramp negotiation
before attempting to do so on your own.
Do not use the chair on an incline steeper than 10% without assistance.
Never turn or change direction on a slope and always stay in the center of
the ramp. If it is necessary to stop while on a slope, avoid abrupt or sudden
movements when you resume moving. Never use the rear wheel locks as
breaks to slow or stop your chair as this could result in veering or tipping to
one side.
