When done with your cook, simply close the damper top, draft door, and the lid. In doing so,
you will suffocate the charcoal and cause it to go out. This will allow you to use the remaining charcoal
on your next cook.
Warning! It is very important to prevent a flashback that the lid not be opened
without properly venting first. A flashback is caused when the burning coal is deprived of oxygen
and then fresh oxygen is rapidly introduced. To properly vent, open both the damper and the
draft door 1/2" for a minimum of two minutes before lifting the lid.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get all the coal evenly lit?
There is no need. It is different than fall back method of "let it turn gray." You will just need to adjust
the draft door and damper to bring your Kamado Rocket to the desired temperature once the coal is lit.
How long should I wait for the coal after reaching desired temp to cook?
There are many variables in play that include the type of charcoal being used, the ambient air
temperature, and of course the amount of food being cooked. Generally, once you have reached the
desired temperature in your Kamado Rocket, it will stabilize and maintain. In most cases, you shoul be
ready to cook within minutes of reaching your desired temperature.
What do I do with the coal when I am done cooking?
Your Kamado Rocket is designed to be as economical as possible, so by just closing the draft door,
damper top, and the lid, you will suffocate the coal and cause it to go out. This allows you to use the
unburnt coal on your next cook. Be aware, your Kamado Rocket will take up to a few hours to
completely cool down.
Warning! It is very important to prevent a flashback that the lid not be
opened without properly venting first. A flashback is caused when the burning coal is deprived of
oxygen and then fresh oxygen is rapidly introduced. To properly vent, open both the damper and
the draft door 1/2" for a minimum of two minutes before lifting the lid.
How do I reduce the temperature?
To quickly reduce the temperature, you can simply open the lid for a brief moment, otherwise you will
need to reduce the airflow by closing up the damper top and draft door until desired temperature is
achieved.
How come a rotisserie is not offered as a an option?
A rotisserie is not needed in your Kamado Rocket. Due to the thermodynamic nature of the Kamado
Rocket, the heat is distributed evenly resulting in an evenly cooked food. Most of the time, especially
with larger cuts of meat, foods do not even need to be turned.
Can I bake in my Kamado Rocket?
Absolutely! In fact, you may never bake in your kitchen again after tasting how moist baked goods
finish up. To do a pizza, just use a pizza stone for best results.
Can I use my Kamado Rocket as a smoker?
Yes, you will need to adjust the temperature to where you need, usually around 150-250F. If additional
flavor is wanted, add a small amount of your favorite wood chips.
