Certain procedures in this section require electrical tests or measurements while power is applied
to the range. Exercise extreme caution at all times. If test points are not easily accessible,
disconnect power, attach test equipment, and reapply power to test.
PROBLEM
Burner fails to light. The ignitor
sparks.
No sparking when any valve is turned
to LITE position.
Cooktop sparks when not in use.
Direct ignitor(s) will not spark.
WARNING
Electrical Shock Hazard
POSSIBLE CAUSE
No gas supply to cooktop.
Weak spark module.
No electrical power to cooktop.
Faulty spark ignition switch.
Ignition switch off or not properly
mounted on gas valve.
Faulty spark module.
Check for:
• Loose or bad connections.
• Burned or discolored wires.
Wrong polarity at electric hookup.
Faulty spark ignition switch.
Check for:
• Loose or bad connections.
• Burned or discolored wires.
Faulty direct ignitor.
Faulty valve spark switch.

SOLUTION
Open the gas shutoff valve or valve on
propane tank.
Refill or replace propane tank.
Replace module.
Reset circuit breaker or replace fuse.
Check ignition switch.
Check ignition switch mounting.
Replace spark module.
Repair or replace wires or connectors.
Correct wiring.
Check switch.
Repair or replace wires or connectors.
Check ignitor.
Check switch.
