Consumer energy saving quick tips
The "Eco Cooking" (function 7) contains features which
help you save energy during everyday cooking . This
function is used to define the energy efficiency class
(SANS 60350-1) .
Minimize conventional oven preheating . Except for
breads, baked goods and pastries, most foods do not
need a preheated oven .
Use the microwave, toaster and "crock pots" rather
than the oven . These smaller appliances consume 1/3
to 1/2 as much electricity as conventional ovens for
cooking the same food item .
Turn off the oven five to ten minutes before cooking
time is finished and let the residual heat finish the
cooking . Avoid opening the oven door repeatedly
to check food that is cooking, as this allows heat
to escape and results in the use of more energy to
complete the cooking of your food . Instead watch the
clock or use a timer .
