Run the Asset Tag utility.
The Asset Tag utility allows you to enter a unique asset tag number that you or
your organization assign to the system for the new system board. For information
on running this utility, refer to Chapter 2, "Using the Dell Server Assistant CD," in
the system's User's Guide .
9.
Run the Resource Configuration Utility to save the new configuration to the sys-
tem board.
If your original PowerEdge 4350 system was a single-processor system and the
upgraded system has two or more processors, you must upgrade your operating sys-
tem to recognize multiple processors.
Unless you upgrade the operating system, an upgraded system with multiple proces-
sors functions as a system with a single processor. The system functions normally,
but the additional processors are not used.
You can use one of the following procedures to ensure that the operating system cor-
rectly recognizes the multiple processors.
If your system is running the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 operating system, perform
one of the following procedures to update the system.
If you have the Windows NT 4.0 Resource Kit and a copy of the Service Pack that is
installed on your system, perform the following steps:
1.
Install the Windows NT 4.0 Resource Kit.
2.
Reboot the server.
3.
Download the uptomp.inf file from ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/
winnt-public/reskit/nt40/uptomp/uptomp.inf.
4.
Copy the uptomp.inf file to your local Resource Kit folder.
Typically, this is c:\ntreskit.
Overwrite the installed uptomp.inf.
