Subwoofer Control Panel
Phase Switch
This function adjusts the phase of the subwoofer driver. This adjustment is required to ensure that the
subwoofer and all other associated loudspeakers operate "in sync." If your main speakers are at the
front of the room the woofers are pushing forward. If your subwoofer is at the front of the room the
woofer will be pushing forward. Switch the phase control to 0. At the back of the room the subwoofer is
pushing in an opposite direction. Switch the phase control to 180 degrees and the subwoofer will fire in
the opposite direction and be in sync.
Off/Auto/On
Off is off. Turn this switch to auto and the subwoofer will be in auto mode and go into standby when
your receiver is turned off. When the receiver is turned on the signal will turn the subwoofer on. This
save you electricity as in standby the subwoofer only draws 1 watt of electricity. In the on position he
subwoofer says on all the time which is a waste of power.
Crossover Control
The crossover is the heart of the ES 100 system. As you turn the crossover control up you add upper
bass. The best setup is to fill the gap between the speakers that can't produce lower bass. At normal
levels the speakers go down to 120Hz. The control starts at 50Hz and goes to 150Hz. We suggest
around 120 Hz to start. You can add or decrease the frequency to achieve the correct balance for either
music or movies. The control only adds higher frequency. It does not alter the low frequency.
Volume
The volume control on the ES 100 runs from 0-10. We suggest the volume be set to 7 and then
controlled by the subwoofer setting on your receiver. This subwoofer will give you all the bass you will
ever need but some people just want to turn everything to +10. When listening to movies or music
make sure that the subwoofer does not go into distortion. You can hear this as a distorted crackling
sound which is usually caused when the subwoofer level on your receiver is set too high. Ease the
volume back so you get a good solid bass. This will ensure the subwoofer will play for years to come.
LFE
Low Frequency Effect is the input to use. Plug an RCA subwoofer cable (not supplied) into subwoofer
output on your receiver into the LFE socket on the subwoofer.
Line In
Line in is only used with old amplifiers or receivers that do not have a subwoofer out. This can be run
from a output such as tape/record or from a pre amplifier output into left and right on the subwoofer
High Level In
These speaker inputs are for older amplifiers again that don't have any outputs. Run left and right
speaker wires into the inputs on the subwoofer from your amplifier and the subwoofer will work.
Power Switch
This is the mains power. Turn this to the off position when you are going on holidays or not using the
system for a period of time.
