Upgrading to BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1 SP 6 for Microsoft
Exchange
If you upgrade from an earlier version of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to BlackBerry
Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange 4.1 SP 6, complete the following tasks:
Install the required Microsoft hotfixes for Microsoft Exchange 2003, if applicable.
Upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1 SP 6.
Configure the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to support Unicode text in calendars.
Install the required Microsoft hotfixes
If you are using Microsoft Exchange 2003 and use Unicode text in calendars, download and
install the following hotfixes:

which you will install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server
Upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1 SP 6 for Microsoft Exchange
1.
Log in to the computer using an administrative account with appropriate database
permissions.
2.
Double-click the BESX_Upgrader.zip file.
3.
Extract the setup program files to a local drive on your computer.
4.
Browse to the location of the setup program files.
5.
Double-click setup.exe.
6.
Click Update.
7.
Complete the configuration screens.
8.
Click Finish.
Configure the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to support Unicode text in calendars
If you are use Microsoft Exchange 2003 and use Unicode text in calendars, complete this task.
You must have already installed the appropriate hotfixes for Microsoft Exchange 2003.
1.
On the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, open the Registry Editor.
2.
In the left pane, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In
Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents.
3.
Right-click Agents.
4.
Click New > DWORD Value.
5.
Create a DWORD value named SetLocaleIDs.
6.
Set the Value data to 1.
7.
Click OK.
8.
Close the Registry Editor.
9.
In the Microsoft Windows Services, restart the BlackBerry Messaging Agent.
