Instructions :
• Install the melting bowl on a flat surface.
• Plug in the power cord. It must not be damaged.
• According to the kind of ingredients to melt, choose the position of the button :
o For the melting of butters, choose the position I. You don't need to pre-heat the melting bowl.
o For the melting of waxes or to heat oil and aqueous phases to prepare your emulsions, choose the position II. For an optimum
performance, respect a 10 minutes pre-heating time and then mix the ingredient while heating.
• When the temperature is ok, pour off ingredients into your cosmetic recipe.
• The use of metal spoons, mini-whisks or metal spatulas damages the melting bowl (damage of the food grade varnish coating the bowl).
Please don't use metal utensils and prefer plastic utensils as the plastic spatula supplied with your melting bowl.
Tips to make emulsions :
• To make standard emulsions with requesting heating oil and aqueous phases, we advise you to use 2 heating bowls (the first one to heat
the oil phase, the second one to heat the aqueous phase). Oil phase needs less time to reach the right temperature. So, begin with the
aqueous phase 2 minutes before the oil phase. Check the temperatures of each phases (mixed together they should reach 70-80°C).
If you don't have thermometer, phases are at the good temperature when :
o Water begins to the boil for aqueous phase
o Emulsifying wax is totally melted for oil phase
• Stir from time to time the oil phase during heating.
• Take off the containers from the heating bowls when phases are at the good temperature.
• To make your emulsion, move the oil phase in a suitable container (resistant to a whisk) and add gradually the aqueous phase in stiring
vigorously.
• Remarks : to make "one pot" emulsion, which means emulsions where the 2 phases can be heated together in the same container, one
heating bowl is enough. Once the mixture reaches the right temperature it is recommended to move the preparation in a suitable container to
prepare the emulsion, to avoid deterioration of the heating bowl when using the whisk.
Clean up :
First of all, empty the preparation from the container and dry-clean the heating bowl with paper towel. Be careful, it is very hot, wear
heatproof gloves. When your melting bowl is completely cold, clean the bowl with alcohol.
Never plunge the melting bowl into water or another fluid.
Never put the melting bowl or the bowl into the dishwasher.
