Canon 40D Digital Camera Overview Manual
SECTION 1: IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT
THE CANON 40D DIGITAL CAMERA

Camera Settings Are Critical to Photography Success

Portrait quality and sales will suffer if camera settings are not correct.
Customers will not purchase portraits that are out of focus, are too dark, or have bad color. The
first step in avoiding situations like these is to ensure the camera has correct settings.
Camera Settings are locked down.
A great benefit of the Canon 40D is that camera settings are locked. This means that accidentally
pushing a button or a curious customer turning a camera dial will not affect how your camera
operates.
Associates should still be familiar with camera settings.
Even though camera settings are locked down, associates should still be familiar with important
settings. Troubleshooting with a technician will require associates to check and possibly change
settings. Familiarity will help make these situations go smoothly.
If you notice an exposure problem, contact Technical Support immediately
When images appear on the post-view monitor, associates should inspect them for exposure and
color shift problems. Even if the problem seems small, contact Technical Support right away. A
technician will assist in troubleshooting any potential problems.
Here's an example of how an incorrect camera setting could affect a finished portrait.
Exposure is perhaps the most critical of all camera settings. Exposure determines how light or dark
an image is. Customers will not want to purchase prints with incorrect exposure. Full explanation of
the key exposure settings is covered later in this document
