WESTEK LROPE-W and LROPE-RGB Series Rope Lights

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
This product has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other) as a feature to reduce t he risk of electric shock.
This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does n ot fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does
not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use with an extension cord unless plug can be fully inserted. Do not alter
the plug.
WARNING: TO PREVENT OVERHEATING AND ELECTRICAL SHOCK DO NOT INSTALL IN SMALL ENCLOSED SPACES. TO
PREVENT ELECTRICAL SHOCK DO NOT INSTALL IN WET LOCATIONS.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Read and understand all of these instructions before installing fixture.
2. Keep these instructions in a safe place for future reference.
3. Only qualified electricians in accordance with local codes should perform all installations.
4. WARNING: For hard wire installation make sure electrical power supply for installation circuit is shut down at electrical
service panel before starting installation. Do not re-energize circuit until installation is fully completed. Ensure that no
bare wires are exposed outside the electrical connections.
WARNING: To prevent shock closely follow grounding directions.
PREPARATION FOR INSTALLATION

How to install rope light

Fix mounting clips with screws onto wooden surfaces and snap rope light into place.

Mounting clips should be evenly spaced and be a maximum of 3ft (0.91 m) apart.

Make sure that the distance between two lines of rope lights is at least 0.5 in (12mm).
How to extend rope light
a. Turn the plastic end cap counter clockwise to remove from the first rope light.
b. Remove power cord from the extension rope light.
c. Connect both ends of the ropes (the male and female halves plug into each other).
Make sure all connectors are firmly tightened and secured.
d. Turn the plastic end cap clockwise to lock on the last rope light.
DO NOT EXCEED THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF EXTENSIONS OR FLEXIBLE LIGHT LENGTHS
PERMITTED BY THE MARKING.
All units must be unplugged before adding additional segment.
Maximum total extension length 300ft (91.4m) for white and 180ft (54.9m) for color
changing.
Ensure all connections and the end cap on the last segment are tightly secured to
preclude the entry of water.
Use only extension segments recommended by the manufacturer of this system.
How to replace the fuse
This plug contains an electrical fuse as a safety feature.
a. Disconnect power before replacing the fuse.
b. Grasp plug and remove from the receptacle or other outlet device.
c. Do not unplug by pulling on the cord.
d. Slide the fuse access cover on the top of attachment plug.
e. Remove old fuse carefully.

Never attempt to replace the fuse with a higher Watt fuse. Use only 5 Amps 125 Volt
fuse. Failure to do so may be a fire hazard.
g. Set new fuse in holder.
h. Reinstall the fuse access cover
Risk of fire. Do not replace attachment plug. Contains a safety device (fuse) that should
not be removed. Discard product if the attachment plug is damaged.
Warning: Risk of Fire and Shock
(a) Do not cover this product as the covering may cause the flexible light to overheat and
melt or ignite.
(b) Do not mount or secure rope light in a manner that can cut the outer jacket or
damage the cord insulation. Inspect the rope light carefully before use and discard
any rope light that has a broken outer jacket, loose connection, or frayed wire
insulation.
(c) Do not operate with the flexible light tightly coiled. To prevent overheating do not
allow contact between flexible light cables and parts of light cables. Maintain at least
12 mm spacing between flexible light cables or parts of light cables.
(d) Do not puncture, cut, shorten, or splice the flexible light.
(e) Do not route the cord or flexible light cable through walls, doors, windows or any like
part of the building structure.
(f) Do not use if there is any damage to the light or cord insulation. Inspect periodically.
(g) Do not submerge flexible light in liquids. (h) Secure this flexible light cable using only the
hangers or clips provided. Do not secure this product or its cord with staples, nails, or
like means that may damage the insulation.
(i) Do not install on gates or doors, where subject to flexing.
(j) Do not install in cabinets, tanks or enclosures of any kind.
CAUTION: Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection should be provided on the
circuit or outlet.
CAUTION: Use only outdoor extension cords, such as type SOW, STW, SJOW or SJTW.
CAUTION: Do not install closer than 3 meters from a swimming pool surface.

SAFETY INFORMATION
Battery Precautions:
1. Use only the size and type of batteries specified.
2. Always purchase the correct size and grade of battery most suitable for the intended
use.
3. Be sure to follow the correct polarity when installing the batteries as indicated in the
battery compartment. Reversed batteries may cause damage to the device.
4. Do not mix alkaline, standard (Carbon-Zinc), or rechargeable (Nickel Cadmium)
batteries.
5. Replace all batteries of a set at the same time. Do not mix old and new batteries.
6. Clean the battery contacts and also those of the device prior to battery installation.
7. Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
8. Remove batteries if consumed or if product is to be left unused for an extended period
of time.
