2.3 Operating Modes

The Mxp-536 has 2 operation modes:
-
Stand Alone Mode (DIP Switch Default):
o
The card is connected to a 3
o
The card uses following default processing rules:
o
Unused zone circuits should have EOLs fitted (or loop wiring if running in class A) in order to avoid
incorrectly reporting faults.
o
The 3 on-board relays are used to interface to the outside world and inform external monitoring
equipment of Fire (relay 1), Fault (fail safe operation) (relay 2), and Earth (relay 3) Fault conditions.
The signalling relays are global to all zones, so while a Fire or Fault can be reported it
cannot be tied-in to any one particular zone circuit on the card. Therefore in stand
alone mode only one zone circuit should be used for detection purposes, or conversely
all zone circuits on the card should be operating in the same physical detection zone.
-
Peripheral Bus Mode:
o
The card requires an Mx5000 Fire Panel in order to operate. In this mode the card provides
maximum flexibility, with the ability to configure each zone independently via the Advanced
Configuration tool.
o
No need to fit EOLs (or loop wiring if running in Class A) on unused zones; unused zones are
disabled by the Fire Panel to reduce current drain.
o
Configurable Relay outputs (via Advanced Configuration tool)

2.3.1 PSU Monitor

The behaviour of the PSU Monitor input changes depending on the run mode of the card.
-
In Stand Alone mode the input is used to issue the reset command to the card
-
In Peripheral Bus mode the input acts as a PSU monitor.
