SnapDragon – Owner's Manual

Issue 1,8
a) Removing the Seat
Stand to the side of the seat with one hand under the front edge of the seat base, and the
other on the black knob which can be found near the bottom back corner of the outside of
the seat. Pull the black knob, which will release the catch securing the seat to the elevator,
and at the same time lift the front edge of the seat to tilt it upwards slightly. Once the seat
catch is disconnected, move your hand from the knob to the top edge of the back of the
seat, and hold it under the square horizontal seat frame member to lift the seat with both
hands away from the elevator. Put the seat somewhere safe while you load the rest of the
SnapDragon into the car.
b) Folding the Elevator Flat
Depending on the internal dimensions of the luggage space in your car, you may need to
fold the elevator flat on to the battery compartment of the SnapDragon before you load the
SnapDragon (see Fig:13).
To do this, stand behind the SnapDragon and put your left hand on the head of the elevator.
With your right hand, pull the knob which releases the elevator lock (see Fig:10). This will
allow the elevator to pivot about its location bar. Keeping the lock released until it is clear of
the tilt brackets (see Fig:11), rock the head of the elevator backwards and rest it on the
battery compartment cover. With the elevator carriage near the top of the elevator, this will
naturally rest flat.
Once in the car, however, you should place a rug or padding between the elevator and the
"bootlid" to avoid rubbing which might cause damage to the fibreglass or paintwork.
c) Removing the Elevator
Folding the elevator flat makes the overall length of the SnapDragon slightly greater so for
some smaller cars, for instance a hatchback, you may need to remove the elevator
altogether. Before doing this, disconnect the elevator control cable (Fig:10) at the main
servo end by twisting the blue locking ring until the connector will pull apart. The cable is
clipped to the elevator side channel on the left, and will remain attached to the elevator, but
care should be taken not to snag this cable in any way in storage. Then proceed as in b)
above to unlock the base of the elevator from the tilt brackets. Keeping the elevator at an
angle of about 45° lift the location bar clear of the powerbase. This will separate the
elevator from the powerbase completely.
d) Driving the Powerbase up Ramps
Position the ramps firmly against the car, making sure that there is sufficient room to allow
both front and back wheels of the SnapDragon to run up them. Remember that the front
drive wheels are further apart than the back castors. Check that the performance knob on
the main servo is turned up to between 12 o'clock and 3 o'clock.
Manoeuvre the SnapDragon so that the drive wheels are close to the base of the ramps,
facing up them. Standing behind the SnapDragon, hold it with your right hand to guide it
and use your left hand to operate the forward attendant control button on the main servo
(see Fig:7). The SnapDragon will drive up the ramps into the car under its own power.
