6. TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem
1. One lamp does not light
2. Two of the lamps do not light
3. No lamps light
4. Unit fails to shut off
7. MAINTENANCE
To avoid electrical shock and possible ultraviolet exposure,
7.1
Lamp cleaning
Dust and dirt should be removed from the lamps. This can be accomplished by gently wiping the
surface with a soft, clean cloth dampened with alcohol.
7.2
Lamp replacement
Lamps should be replaced after 10,000 hours of use.
7.2.1 Holding the lamp firmly by the black plastic base, gently slide it straight up and out of
the socket.
7.2.2 Bring the U-bent section of the lamp into the slot in the top section of the unit.
7.2.3 Swing the lamp base to one side of the socket and carefully withdraw the lamp from
the fixture.
To install and test replacement lamps, follow the procedure outlined in sections 3.3-3.5.
7.3
Ballast replacement
7.3.1 Remove lamps from the unit by following the procedure outlined in section 7.2.
7.3.2 With the unit lying on its side, remove the screw in each of the four rubber feet on the
bottom plate.
7.3.3 Lift off the bottom plate to gain access to ballast connections.
7.3.4 Remove the wire nuts to disconnect the ballast. Refer to the wiring diagram
for connections.
7.3.5 Remove the four mounting screws, located on the side of the base and carefully lift out
the ballast.
7.3.6 To install new ballast, follow the above steps in reverse order.
Possible Cause
a. Lamp burned out or lamp defective
b. Lamp installed improperly
c. Loose electrical connection
a. Loose electrical connection to ballast

a. Power disconnected
b. 3-minute delay mechanism
malfunction
c. Interval timer malfunction
a. Interval timer malfunction
WARNING:
disconnect power to the unit before servicing.
Action
a. Swap suspect lamp with another and confirm
that it is inoperative. Replace lamp if necessary.
b. Check lamp socket & re-install lamp if necessary
c. Follow procedure outlined in section 7.3 to gain
access to ballast compartment & inspect

b. Note if operation indicator light is lit. If no,
check power cord connection. If yes, replace

enter area and disconnect power cord to the
operating unit. Replace timer.
