Setting Up the StayAway:

1. Remove battery cover of motion detector (located on the
top) by pressing down on cover and sliding it back (A).
Insert 4 AAA batteries and replace cover.
2. Place motion detector device on top of refill can by
pressing down firmly (B). The device will clamp onto the
can. Then slide the ring down to secure the device into
position (C).
3. Adjust the angles between detection and spray direction
according to the expected action of the device (D). You
can also adjust the direction of the spray up or down (D).
4. To remove the motion detector from refill can, turn unit
off then lift up ring (C) and remove device (B).

Two Levels of Action:
Sound and Spray Option: A warning sound is given just be-
fore the spray is released. The cat associates the sound with
the spray. Use this level of action for the first few days.
Sound Only Option: Once the animal associates the sound
to the spray, the sound will be sufficient to keep the cat at a
StayAway Refills:
The StayAway refill contains a gas (HFC134a) that is safe for
people, animals and the environment. It has no active
chemical agent, only an innocuous propellant. This scentless
spray is stainless, ozone friendly and has no side effects when
used as directed. Refill can contains more than 200 sprays.
Working the StayAway:
1. Place StayAway where you don't want the cat to go
(e.g.: kitchen counters, near plants, etc.)
2. Turn on to sound/spray; wait a few seconds for the
motion detector to stabilize itself.
3. For the first few days use the sound/spray mode. A
sound then a spray will be released when the motion
detector detects the
movement of the cat.
4. Once this is repeated a few
times, the sound will be
enough for the cat to avoid
off-limit areas.
5. If you find that the StayAway
has trouble seeing your pet,
try raising it up slightly by
sitting it on a book.
