Frame
Clean and disinfect the chrome parts approximately once a week. For
multipatient use, clean and disinfect as required. Dry the chair as soon as
possible if it is exposed to water or other sources of moisture. Never use an
abrasive cleaner which may scratch your new Airgo wheelchair.
Upholstery
The vinyl upholstery on your Airgo wheelchair is categorized as
a hard surface and should be disinfected at the same time as you clean the
wheelchair's frame. If you notice worn or torn areas, the upholstery should
be replaced immediately as it may not support your body weight and may rip
or tear further and could cause an accident.
REMEMBER: The seat upholstery is the primary source of weight support.
Lubricating
All hinged or moving parts should be kept properly oiled at all times.
A light machine oil is suitable for most of these areas, including footrests,
elevating legrests and wheel locks.
Bearings
Since all bearings are sealed, no cleaning is necessary.
Crossbar
Keep the pivot bolt on the crossbar slightly loose. This will enable all four
wheels to remain on the ground when going over uneven surfaces.
Large wheels
The wheels should be inspected periodically for any sign of wobbling or side
play. To correct any problems, loosen the nut on the axle and then tighten
the axle just enough to straighten it and allow it to turn freely. Retighten the
nut firmly and recheck the wheels.

Tires
Make sure the tires are not worn nor cracked. Worn tires can cause difficulty
in propelling and maneuvering the wheelchair. To ensure proper balance,
both tires should be replaced at the same time. You should clean the tires
occasionally by use of a damp cloth.
Casters
Remove any lint, thread or dirt that may be caught in the casters
to prevent binding.
Handrims
Clean and disinfect approximately once a week at the same time as you
clean the frame. Replace the handrims if there are any signs of rough, sharp
edges or peeling.
Rear wheels locks
You can make minor adjustments to compensate for normal tire
wear by simply loosening the bracket and sliding the assembly
forward or backward.
Storage
1. Store your wheelchair in a clean and dry area to prevent corrosion.
2. If stored for more than three months, have your wheelchair inspected
®
by an Airgo authorized dealer before using.
