2S WRIST SUPPORTS/ SPLINTS/
BRACES
SPECIFICATIONS/ INTENDED USE
Wrist injuries are typically caused by one of two reasons. The most
common is due to repetitive use of the wrist. This causes strain on the
tendons and nerves that support the area, which leads to wrist pain. The
other common reason is due to impact, usually during physical activities.
Our natural reaction when falling is to put our hand out and land on our
wrist, which can cause wrist fractures, breaks, or other injuries. Wearing a
wrist brace can help prevent wrist injuries from occurring or help support
the wrist after an injury. They do this by stabilizing the wrist area and
preventing the joint from moving unnaturally or out of place
Thumb and wrist supports and braces can be extremely useful in the
treatment of sports injuries, accidental injury and workplace demands
which affect this area of the body. Common conditions thumb and wrists
supports and braces can help include Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, repetitive
strain injury, broken wrist, fractured Scaphoid, Colles fracture, sprained
wrist, fractured Radius and a fractured Ulna.
Whenever your wrists are used in a repetitive motion, you run the risk of
getting wrist tendinitis. It is a common problem experienced by individuals
who type or use the computer regularly, as well as athletes who have a lot
of wrist action, such as tennis players. Although tendinitis can become
quite uncomfortable and painful, it is possible to quickly recover, provided
that appropriate measures are taken. Use a wrist brace or splint on the
affected wrist to limit wrist movement. Limiting the mobility of the wrist
allows the tendon to heal faster than it would without a brace.
A wrist splint, brace or support can be used to effectively treat Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome. The Wrist Support holds the wrist in a neutral position
which has been shown to decrease pressure within the Carpal Tunnel
region of the wrist. This decreased pressure eases the pain and symptoms
of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, such as pins and needles and burning
sensation in the hand and fingers.
Other splints and braces can provide immobilization and wrist protection
immediately following a broken wrist. They are a comfortable, lightweight
alternative to a conventional plaster cast that can be removed for bathing
the wrist and exercising it to quicken rehabilitation.
There are a few sports wrist braces and supports that provide
compression, support and protection for the wrist region during play. These
supports are made from neoprene and other lightweight materials. For
thumb injuries such as skier's thumb, Bennett's fracture dislocation of the
thumb and gamekeeper's thumb then the Thumb Stabilizer is the best form
of support and protection.
The wrist is one of the most common joints to be affected by rheumatoid
arthritis. In fact, about 75% of people with RA have arthritis in the wrists,
marked by pain, inflammation, joint structure damage and loss of range of
motion. Wrist splints, like splints for other joints, help stabilize the joint.
Depending on your condition, and intended use of the wrist support you
can choose the best option for you form the three categories below
Mild Support Wrist Braces...
injuries and wrist pain.
Moderate to Strong Support Wrist Braces...
everyday use or during sports.
Maximum Support Wrist Braces...
can get for activities that put the wrist at risk for injury, or
recovery from injuries and chronic conditions
The thought of wearing any type of brace scares most people, who then try
to suffer through pain. If you are experiencing long-lasting pain and
discomfort in your hands and wrists while you perform everyday functions,
however, it is time to consider wearing a brace. You are likely exacerbating
your injury by not wearing one.
