FILLING FLUX TANK (Figure 3-2)
WARNING: ELECTRIC SHOCK can kill; FLY-
ING FLUX PARTICLES can puncture eyes
and skin.
•
Do not touch live electrical parts.
•
Shut down welding power source and wire
feeder and be sure they cannot be accidental-
ly energized.
•
Wear proper eye, hand, and body protection.
•
Do not use wet or damp flux.
•
Keep foreign material out of flux system.
•
Use reclaimed flux only which has been sifted
through 0.062 in (1.57 mm) mesh.
•
Close air line valve before disconnecting air
supply.
•
After air supply is turned off or disconnected,
bleed pressure from tank before opening top
or bottom cover(s).
IMPORTANT: Consult the flux manufacturer for the
proper ratio of new to reclaimed flux.
IMPORTANT: To bleed air pressure from tank, pull out
and hold safety valve bleed handle until pressure is re-
lieved (see Figure 3-2).
To add flux, proceed as follows:
1.
Close air valve, bleed pressure from tank, and
disconnect air supply.
2.
Remove cover from tank slowly. (A screen is pro-
vided inside the tank and must remain in place.)
3.
Place supplied funnel in tank opening, and pour in
flux. Prescreen reclaimed flux through 0.062 in
(1.57 mm) mesh before adding to tank.
4.
Remove funnel and reinstall cover tightly on tank.
To change to a different flux, proceed as follows:
1.
Close air valve, bleed pressure from tank, and
disconnect air supply.

Do not allow flux flow to stop while welding.
•
Do not use wet or damp flux.
•
Do not pinch flux feed hose.
•
Ensure continuous air supply to flux system.
•
Keep foreign material out of flux system.
•
Use reclaimed flux only which has been sifted
through 0.062 in (1.57 mm) mesh.
•
Wear proper eye, hand, and body protection.
•
Close air line valve before disconnecting air
supply.

SECTION 4 – SEQUENCE OF OPERATION

Remove bottom tank cover (see Figure 3-2), and
drain existing flux into an appropriate container.
3.
Reinstall bottom tank cover tightly.
4.
Add desired flux to tank according to the preced-
ing instructions.

FLUX FLOW AND REGULATOR PRESSURE
ADJUSTMENT
WARNING: ELECTRIC SHOCK can kill; FLY-

and skin; WELDING WIRE can cause punc-
ture wounds.
•
Do not touch live electrical parts.
•
Shut down welding power source and wire
feeder and be sure they cannot be accidental-
ly energized.
•
Do not point gun toward any part of the body,
any conductive surface, or other personnel.
•
Wear proper eye, hand, and body protection.

Fill flux tank according to Section 3-5.
2.
Connect air supply to tank, and open air valve.
3.
For normal welding conditions, adjust the regula-
tor air pressure adjustment for 30 psi (207 kPa)
on air pressure gauge (see Figure 3-2). If neces-
sary, readjust air pressure for different welding
conditions. If the flux is pushed up and over a
boom, or the hoses are extended, the pressure
will also have to be increased.
4.
Depress gun trigger approximately 2/3 of its trav-
el without energizing the wire feeder, and check
for desired flux flow.
IMPORTANT: If regulator pressure is reduced 6 psi or
more, air may bleed off through opening on rear of
regulator.
5.
Close air valve, bleed pressure from tank, and
disconnect air supply.
•
After air supply is turned off or disconnected,
bleed pressure from tank before opening top
or bottom cover(s).
•
After connecting air supply, open air line valve
to pressurize tank.
Do not allow flux flow to stop while welding to
avoid being exposed to a bare arc. The arc must
be covered at all times to prevent arc flashing.

•
Do not energize welding power source or wire
feeder until instructed to do so.
•
Do not touch welding wire or any metal part in
contact with it while welding.
