The Deluxe Digital Modulator (SKU- HDMI-DVBT-DX) Setup Guide
This device can be used in all counties which have implemented international DVB-T Standards. The
default settings, as supplied by Darkstar, are for New Zealand and as such, this modulator is fully
compatible with all NZ DVB-T television receivers although certain Samsung models may need some
changes to those default settings.
We recommend setting the RF output level to -20 dB because the default of 0 dB will swamp many TV
tuners. Active aerial reticulation systems may need further attenuation and passive systems may need
less.
Single Modulator Installation
No other essential configuration parameters need be altered if the modulator is to be treated as an
additional single Freeview TV channel. However, we recommend changing the Service Provider name to
ensure that it is never confused with actual Freeview services.
The LCN will need to be set to avoid conflict with regional channel assignments.
The Service Name should be chosen so as to describe the modulator's intended video content.
If your home television installation contains a late model Samsung TV, then set the
NETWORK_ID to 13000 and the ORIGINAL_NETWORK_ID to 8000. This should have no effect
on other brands of TV in your network.
Multiple Modulator Installation
When adding multiple modulators to the Freeview Network, perform the following additional steps:
SERVICE PROVIDER:
This name needs to be used on all modulators that are on this same network. Therefore, if you have 4
modulators on the system, they must all have whatever name of the network you use. The default name
will suffice but we suggest using the building or customer name (or part name) for uniqueness.
SERVICE ID:
This number needs to be unique and never repeated with any other modulator on the same network. The
default Service ID is 1 which is fine for the first modulator but the next and subsequent modulator service
IDs must be set to 2,3,4 and so on.
TS ID:
The Transport Stream ID number is unique and must not be repeated again on another modulator on the
same network. The default TS ID is 128 which is fine for the first modulator but the next and subsequent
modulator service IDs must be 129,130, 131 and so on.
