MOTOROLA XTS 3000 RADIO TRAINING
The Orange Button in front of antenna is the Emergency Trigger.
To activate it, depress the button for approximately 2 seconds.
When depressed, it switches the radio from whatever channel and
configuration, to the Emergency Channel, repeat mode.
SCC is automatically notified of the activation.
It does not provide an "open mike". A push to talk switch must be used.
To reset the E-trigger, simply turn the radio off and back on again.
When depressed, the radio transmits the 5 digit AID number ,
engraved on the bottom front of the radio, every time a push to talk
(PTT) switch is depressed.
a.
It's the short burst that can be heard every time one uses a PTT
switch and is the primary reason that the user should not "rush"
the mike.
b.
The digital burst will cover ANY radio transmission.
The collar switch that rotates toggles back and forth at the base of the
middle (frequency) knob controls the indicator moving between a
"circle" and a "slash/circle", on the top/front of the radio, just above and
slightly left of the Emergency Button. This is the Repeat/Direct (talk
around) selector switch.
When the selector indicator points to the circle/slash, the radio is in
repeat.
When the selector indicator points to the circle, the radio is in direct.
a.
A symbol
I---->I on the top line of the digital display (right of
center) indicates direct mode.
Note: It is unsafe and it is a violation of policy to transmit in
'direct' mode on repeated Dispatch Channels.
a.
Direct radio transmissions will cover repeated
transmissions within an inexact distance of the person
transmitting in direct.
